BLAM! (Josh’s head just exploded — complete with Batman sound effects)
Alright, so, for many people, my rants against Isaiah Thomas — aka Zeke — have become rather tired, but I’ve held my silence for far too long. I. JUST. DON’T. GET. IT!!!!!!!!!!
Let’s start at last week: On one side, Larry Brown. Resume: Hall of Fame coach, World Championship coach for Detroit, absurd amount of wins, coached virtually every team in the NBA, has made every team he has ever worked for better when he leaves than when he started.

So, as many of you know, I have been searching for the “Great Guacamole Theory” — ie a way to make great guacamole without cilantro — well, while I think I might have found it, others seem to like cilantro. It is for those people, that Geneve Stewart (from Geneve’s Kitchen) has posted her guacamole video blog post. Her first ever, I might add.
Also, a quick thought on video blogging. In theory, I like it when its well done. I like when its well produced and entertaining or enlightlightening. I don’t like it when its poorly lit, has inaudible or spotty sound or has choppy video. In Geneve’s case, she warns that she is a novice, but I think she did great work. Way back on Fatmixx, Sujal once posted that podcasting was an interesting idea, and it might be interesting to see certain people attempt it. Amanda Congdon does it on Rocketboom, and does a fine — and very funny — job as well.
Unfortunately, I’ve been listening to a number of “homemade” audio blogs through iTunes, and I just continue to be unimpressed. In the ones I’ve downloaded, the knowledge is poor, the effects sound like they come off a Casio keyboard, and in some cases, the talent definitely lacked a certain gravitas. Now, please don’t mistake my commentary here for an attempt to stifle creativity, I hope people continue to make them, and I hope that as all of the tools get better to help people make better audio and video recordings (Garageband and iMovie on the Mac, for example), the quality improves. I have just been disappointed thus far.
(This is all by way of saying, I wouldn’t hold your breath for me to be releasing a video or audio blog any time soon.
More news later, especially when I finally release my response to Isaiah Thomas taking over the world, on this, the day of the NBA Draft…)

Big news from the movie world. Today at Yahoo Movies, there is a 30 second trailer for Samuel L. Jackson’s new movie “Snakes on a Plane.” This movie hasn’t even been released yet and its already been dubbed a cult classic. And at 2:30 PM today, apple.com/trailers will have the first trailer for Spiderman 3. Enjoy.

The answer is most likely: YES!
And it is all for your benefit!!! “What?!!!” you scream as you read that… but yes, it is all for your benefit.
The ugly truth is that your boss is probably overpaid–and it’s for your benefit, not his. Why? It might be because he isn’t being paid for the work he does but, rather, to inspire you. In other words, we work our socks off in underpaying jobs in the hope that one day we’ll win the rat race and become overpaid fat cats ourselves. Economists call this “tournament theory.”
So, our bosses are paid UBER amounts of money so that we can work harder. Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? But the real question is this: Is it so crazy?!
The article also goes on to say…

Today, being the first day of summer at 1pm, we decided to blow off work and play golf at 1pm to kick off the summer festivities… what an amazing day… not to hot, no rain, nice breeze….
Well, how did we do? I shot a 93… first time ever under a 100. I think Jish had a 97 and Rich D had a 96… or the other way around.
Plus, on the par 4 13th hole, I got a BIRDIE!!! woo hoo!!! First time ever and hopefully, not the last!!!

A Knick fan styling himself Mr. Orange has started a website www.selltheknicks.com in an attempt to get James Dolan to sell his beloved Knicks. Josh we knew you were pissed, but this is ridiculous.

Ah, my friends, before I leave work for the day, what with it being both Wednesday and the first day of Summer (as of 1pm, I’m told by scientists nationwide — er…Quincy-wide), I figured I would make today’s a short DotW posting:
1.) Massachusetts Legislators — Do you not have better things to do with your collective lives? I don’t know, aren’t you supposed to be fleecing the people or something? This idea is so absurd that it made the pages of my favorite blog, Slashfood.
PS — make sure you read the comments on the slashfood page. It’ll be worth it.
2.) Movie Industry — So, the music industry had these debates three years ago, and guess what? They came around to the idea that providing it legally both cut down on illegal downloads (along with lawsuits to be sure) and INCREASED sales that wouldn’t have been otherwise recoverd by not providing it online. Fighting about tiered pricing will only further anger an already aggravated public towards the MPAA. Trust me, studio heads, solve this soon and do it Apple’s way. I’m not saying its the best way, I’m saying its proven to work VERY well. It will make you money in the end.

ARE YOU F#!@%#$(%*!$%!($!%!$)(*%!)@#ING Kidding me?!?!?!?!?!
1.) Don’t breathe near Dewayne Wade– you’ll get a foul and Doug Christie’s wife will come and beat yo ass down!!
2.) if you play for the Dallas Mavericks, expect to get no calls. Nothing! Steve Jaffe and Danny Crawford will NEVER EVER NEVER NEVER N#@#%$@#$%!@ give you a call. How is it possible for one team to have 19 free throws versus 2 for the other team?!?!?!?!?
3.) Where are the freakin’ moving picks!?! Shaq and Haslem move on EVERY SINGLE pick!!!!
4.) has there ever been a movie more deserving of the acting chops of DMX or Tupac (because, yes, I still believe he isn’t dead) than Waist Deep?
I think my record is pretty clear on this. I am a knicks fan, but this is RIDICULOUS!!! More news later.
Halftime Notes: Personal Fouls count at halftime: Dallas 13 — Miami 8. Doesn’t seem like much of a differential? Look at this for a moment. Players who guard Dewayne Wade:
Josh Howard: 2 Fouls
Devin Harris: 2 Fouls
Jerry Stackhouse: 3 Fouls
Marquis Daniels: 1 Foul
8 personal fouls against players who guard one guy. EVEN JORDAN DIDN’T HAVE THAT KIND OF DIFFERENTIAL!!!!
More updates:
From today’s Bill Simmons article:
Speaking of the refs, Game 5 of the Finals took its rightful place alongside Game 7 of the Seattle-Phoenix series in 1993, Game 6 of the Kings-Lakers series in 2002, Game 5 of the Knicks-Celtics series in 1973 and some of the other famous entries in the Pantheon of One-Sided Officiated Games. We’re running some e-mails in a sidebar (look to the right), but you know it’s bad when the owner of the losing team runs out onto the floor to stare down the commissioner after the game — the last time that happened at a sporting event, Vince McMahon was involved.
Even Bill Simmons sees it!
Oh, and one more thing:
MOVING PICKS!!!! CALL THE DAMN MOVING PICKS!!!!!
Third Quarter Update:
Alright, this is absurd. There are now 8.5 minutes left in the quarter, and I just don’t believe with the way this game is being called or played that Dallas can come back. Antoine Walker just RAN OVER Jerry Stackhouse. Stackhouse didn’t move. He turned around, BAM! Walker runs him over!
This is absurd. it is 10:54, and I have turned the game off. I don’t care who wins any more because the NBA may not be rigged, but these last four games make me ashamed to be a fan.

Josh has asked me to post about the NBA finals, and all I have to say is that the 3 games in Miami were officiated in a manner so biased that it was actually insulting for any real NBA fan to watch. I have never seen one team get so many calls without there being any actual contact while the other team gets so few calls while being so molested. Lets look at game three first. With about 8 minutes left to go in the 4th quarter, Wade trips Terry at half court. There should have been a foul called. It was obvious to everyone that it was foul. It would have been Wade’s 6th foul. He would have been out of hte game and there would have been no comeback. THe Mavs would be up 3-0 and the series would’ve been effectively over. Instead, no call and Wade realizes he can and will get away with anything. He leads a come back and the home town officials create two “clock malfunctions” costing the Mavs a very valuble 5 seconds. The series turned right there and it was gifted to them by the officials. Game 4 was more of the same. Apparently mostp layers can stand in the labe for only 3 seconds, but in Miami its 3 minutes. I think i actually saw shaq pitch a tent and start a campfire. IT was ridiculous. And last night was the most egregious officiating in the history of the NBA. Wade alone shot more free throws than the entire Dallas Team. And yet, there is virtually no contact on him. Harris, Terry, and Norwitzki are sent sprawling to the floor repeatedly, and yet the MAvs get no calls. Avery Johnson got a technical he was angry at the obvious lack of respect for the mavs players. When a coach goes off and gets the tech, thats when the calls are supposed to even out. Instead it just got worse. Add to it, an unwarranted suspension for Stack and its obvious the league is gifting the series to Miami. One last note, the defense on Norwitzki has way more contact than anything that has happened to wade, yet he is getting no calls. People go to jail for less than what Haslem and Posey are doing to Dirk. THis is absurd, and I am ashamed to be an NBA fan after watching these games.

Looks Like Alexa Ray Joel is getting ready to burst onto the music scene in the next year or so!!!. She has a site over on Myspace Music.
I love the way she has that bluesy/rock feel on “The Revolution Song” and then I love the way she sinks into her sultry and soulful voice on “Resistance” and “Sapphire Night”. According to her site at Myspace, these are all Demos as she hasn’t signed anywhere or cut an album for release, yet.
