A Jets fan has filed at $184 million class action lawsuit against Bill Belichick and the Patriots.

Frivilious or Real?

For the Jishman, J E T S, Jets, Jets, Jets!

So, who do you think was playing a joke when, at a job fair today, there was an empty vestibule for Dunder Mifflin?

So, as I mentioned, I was going to watch a few new shows this season, and at this point, I truthfully have no faith in television executives. If given the opportunity between continuing a show that is good, but isn’t performing or putting on some lame ass, reality tv drek, that is what they’re going to do - ruin your brain. Thus, with that, I give you shows that have a 50-50 shot of making it:

Sometimes, when I rant, I feel as if people tend to miss what I’m saying and instead focus on the tone and verbiage of the rant itself. Well, now I’m just going to quote from this story brought to us from our Massachusetts roving reporter, Phann McHates-You:

Anybody who’s surfed through some of the off-the-beaten-track cable channels has likely experienced some disorienting moments when stumbling across a program that lies on the fuzzy border between infomercial and badly-produced news show. This problem has been exacerbated by the development of what are called “video news releases” (VNRs): short video segments that are formatted to appear as if they were news reports. VNRs attracted a lot of attention when they were used to promote government policy, but the technique has been adopted by businesses as well. Now, in what appears to be the first action of its kind, the FCC has fined a Comcast station (.doc) for failing to identify the sponsor of a VNR.

Oookay, um…yeah…you know what, just read the article from ArsTechnica. You’ll feel much better or angrier towards Comcast. I’m not sure which.

“Phoenix Suns forward Shawn Marion, the team’s highest-paid player and a four-time All-Star, says he wants to be traded after eight years with the club. Marion has two years left on his contract, which will net him $16.4 million for this season and $17.8 million in 2008-2009.”

Now, ignoring for a moment that he is one of the most talented players at his position or any position, and he couldn’t possibly be moved no matter what they did. His reasons for wanting to move are totally fackackt. Yes, yes, I did bring the yiddish.

Marion said he decided to ask to leave because the team considered trading him over the summer and won’t talk about a contract extension.

“I’m tired of hearing my name in trades,” Marion said by phone from his Chicago home. “I love my fans in Phoenix, but I think it’s time for me to move on.”

So, let me see if I’ve got this, the reason why he wants to be traded is because he thinks he’s too good, needs more money - more than the 17 or 18 million dollars he’s already making, that is - and he’s tired of hearing his name bantered around in trade rumors?!?!

Athletes need to shut up. All of them. At least the ones that are in the press, that is. Your job is to play a game and do it better than 99.9 percent of the world. Your job is to be tall, run fast, jump high, and do it while making more GUARANTEED money than 99% of the world. I don’t get guaranteed money. If I injure my knee, I don’t get to NOT do my job. I don’t get to sit next to my desk and NOT do my job.

Just shut up, you bunch of overprivileged jacka$$es! I hate people sometimes.

This has got to hurt…(click here to watch video)

It is September 25th. We have been in school for almost a month. I understand that people move over the summer. But maybe next time you move you should do the responsible thing and check to see when the new school your child will be attending starts. I understand students that enroll the first week of school. But we are almost half way through the first quarter (progress reports get done on Friday) and your kid just showed up this week. I have taught a lot of material over the last month - I am not going to reteach it to your child. I don’t have time. Coming after school once or twice is not going to make up for a month of instruction. They missed how to solve a one variable equation - that’s kind of the meat and potatoes of Algebra. Please figure out a way for your child, who does not appear to be that bright to begin with, to learn this material. Otherwise they will probably fail my class.

Sincerely,
Their Algebra Teacher

I can move programming to my laptop!! Yes, that’s right, ladies and germs, I can move programming from my tivo to my laptop. Using Tivo Decoder Manager, it finds your tivo, moves the programs, then converts it into something you can play. I love it.

FYI, though, I wasn’t able to open the files using Quick Time, I had to use VLC, but it is still worth it.

As many of you know, I teach high school math. As some of you know, I am also 6 months pregnant. Normally, when a student asked me to go to the bathroom, I wrote them a pass and let them go. My feeling has always been that if they have to go, it keeps them from concentrating, and why would I want that? As long as they didn’t ask in the first 5 minutes of me presenting new material, it didn’t bother me.

Then I got pregnant. (more…)

There have been many arguments against COMCRAP over the past year, especially after they screwed with the NFL network, BUT for the past few weeks Direct TV has added a new feature to NFL Season Ticket that makes it that much better for me, the consumer.

ESPN Fantasy Football used to have live scoring… these days, I have to hit the refresh button on my ESPN page to get updated scores. So ESPN live scoring sucks this year…. what does this have to do with Direct TV? Everything.

This year, Direct TV added players tracker. I input my nine fantsay starters and the nine fantasy starters of the team I am playing and every time one of those players does anything positive, Direct TV flashes a banner across the bottom of my TV screen that tells me who the player is and what they have done. Which means, I get instant fantasy stats on my TV in real time….Thanks Direct TV!!!!

UPDATE: My apologies to ESPN. If I use Firefox, I never get connected to live scoring. If I use Internet explorer, I do get live scoring capabilities. Apparently the issue is with Firefox not ESPN.

I’m sorry to have to say that he died. I was a big fan. I particularly enjoyed some of his work. Interestingly, I didn’t know some of this:

A French Jew, Marceau escaped deportation during World War II — unlike his father, who died as Auschwitz — and worked with the French Resistance to protect Jewish children.

His biggest inspiration was Charlie Chaplin. Marceau, in turn, inspired countless young performers — Michael Jackson borrowed his famous “moonwalk” from a Marceau sketch, “Walking Against the Wind.”

Marcel, we will miss you. On behalf of everyone at the home offices of RMTJ in Dupont Circle, we say….Nothing at all.

This just in from MediaBistro:

“It’s been a great year with Amanda — a great experiment for both of us. We thank her for her many contributions and know that she’s about to embark on new endeavors and expect there will be times in the future that we can again work together.”

As you may remember, Amanda Congdon used to work for Rocketboom before…whatever happened between her and the site left them split. It seems, a year later, the same thing is true with ABCNews. Oh well…hopefully, we’ll see more of her soon.

About a month, I posted about an agent who had requested to read a copy of my book. If she liked it, she would have most likely offered representation.

Today, I got a hand written note in the mail:

Thank you for sending me Reality Check. I read it with interest. Regretfully, I don’t believe I am the one to find it a publishing home. With all best wishes for your success, L. Daniels.

I woul like to thank all of you who have continued to check in with me about the progress for this project adn for all of your kind words and wishes. At least I was able to get someone to read it. One down, many more to go…. the search for representation continues.

Apparently the Do Not Call List is only good for five years

If you are on the Do Not Call list, you make be getting some annoying telemarketing calls soon…

Numbers placed on the registry, begun in June 2003, are valid for five years. For the millions of people who signed onto the list in its early days, their numbers will automatically drop off beginning next June if they do not enroll again.

There is legislation to make the Do Not Call list permannent BUT if you signed up in 2003, for now, you need to log back in and sign up again! But the FTC likes the five year rule saying:

“It is incredibly quick and easy to do,” Lydia Parnes, director of the FTC’s bureau of consumer protection, said in an interview with The Associated Press this week. “It was so easy for people to sign up in the first instance. It will be just as easy for them to re-up.”
