Today, through a link at another blog, I was on Myspace Music looking at some of the new artists that are out on the market. And to my surprise, I came across P.J. Pacifico.
I met P.J. Pacifico (click here for his website) back when we both worked at the Norwalk YMCA summer camp, he was the Music Specialist. He and Craig had a band called Sunflower and they toured the circuit for most of the 1990s and then, just like that, I didn’t hear anything else about P.J.
P.J. Pacifico just released his debut solo album in January 2006 on Viper Records. It is a great album; So, if you are looking for a new, fresh and exciting artist to add to your CD collection, check out PJ’s album. I have been listening to the album here for most of the day and will be purchasing the album this weekend from Viper Records, which you can link to here. Scroll down the page and click on PJ’s album link.
(note: Jishman said the SBN link did not work on his MAC computer. You can access the 4 songs on MYSPACE but if you have a Mac, the SBN site might not work with your computer… looking into…)
But don’t just take my word for it, here is what the Fairfield County Weekly had to say about PJ back in January, just before his album release party:
SATURDAY JANUARY 21
And it’s Alright Now
Sometimes the whole goody-goody thing can be grating, but P.J. Pacifico sure sounds sincere on his new album Well I’ll Be . He’s releasing it with a show at Acoustic CafĂ© tonight, and it’s full of warm sentiment. Musically, he falls somewhere between earnest pop and new country–he’s got a warbling, light voice that leads each personally-penned song. It begins with “Another Me,” which starts with a musical nod to Southern rock, and includes his feelings about finding someone special and how “patience leads to everything.” “Okay Fine” picks up a bit more twangy country in the guitar and a livelier beat as Pacifico muses, “And I said, alright, okay, fine, I stumbled over a goldmine.” Some of it’s sappy, but Pacifico has a clean, easy style and an understated band to match who hold the rhythm steady behind his capable singing. Formerly, he co-fronted Sunflower , but Pacifico sounds just as comfortable on his own.
Check out the album and let me know what you think!
And hopefully, we’ll get PJ up here to Boston for a couple of dates on his national tour.

The music is good actually. I liked some of the musical arrangements and the combination of folk rock and country was very soothing to listen to in the backround. It reminded me of early Hootie & the Blowfish albums (which, I consider to be a good thing). Enjoy, and good luck to him!

I got an email from PJ…. His album is now available through ITunes…. which, I think, means you can buy only the songs you like.
